How to switch Telegram signal copier without missing trades
Moving to a new copier is where settings get lost. Here is a plan: write the old setup down, rebuild it, prove it on a demo account, then move the live one.
To switch Telegram signal copier without missing a trade, write down every setting of the old one, rebuild it on the new one against a demo account, run both on demo for a few days, then move the live account in one step. CopySignals is a cloud Telegram signal copier for MT4, MT5 and eTrader: it reads the rooms you already follow through your own Telegram account and places the trades on your own broker account. This guide covers the move itself, whichever copier you are leaving.
Why would you switch Telegram signal copier at all?
People move for ordinary reasons. The copier runs on a home PC that gets switched off. The VPS bill is another line in the budget. The follow-up messages are ignored, so a trade that the room moved to break even stays open at the original stop.
Whatever the reason, the risk of the move is the same: the first week on the new tool is when settings get lost. A lot size you tuned over months, a suffix your broker needs, a word filter that kept recaps out. None of it carries over by itself. The plan below is built around that.
What should you write down before you touch anything?
Open the old copier and copy its settings into a plain note, one line each. You are going to rebuild them by hand, and the old screen will not be there once you cancel.
- The rooms it copies, and which account each room feeds.
- How it sizes a trade: fixed lot, a percent of the account, a multiple of someone's lot.
- What it does with several take profits: first only, split, run to the last.
- Break even, partial closes and trailing stop, with the numbers.
- Symbol names your broker uses, including any prefix or suffix.
- Filters: words, instruments, a delay, a spread limit, a cap on open trades.
Then add one more column: what you wish it did differently. A switch is the cheapest moment to change a setting you never liked.
How do you rebuild the same setup in CopySignals?
Each item on your list has a place in CopySignals, and every plan includes all of them.
Sizing is per account: a fixed lot, a percent of the account measured against the signal's own stop, a multiple of the master's lot, or the master's lot scaled by balance, always capped by a maximum lot. If you are unsure which suits you, fixed lot against risk percent sets out the difference. Take profits can be split across the targets with custom weights, taken at the first only, run to the last, or left off, which the article on split weights walks through.
The trade management is the part most people want to compare line by line. CopySignals moves to break even after a number of targets you choose, closes a part at each target, can trail the stop, and exits when the room reports a stop or the last target. The guide to signal updates explains how those messages are read.
Symbols are the usual trap. If your broker quotes gold as XAUUSD.m, the rename and the suffix must match it exactly, or the order never reaches the account. See symbol suffix and broker names before you connect the first account.
Controls fill in the rest: word filters, an instrument list, a delay before placing, a maximum spread, a cap on open positions and reverse copy. If your old tool copied a room in reverse, note that down too.
Can you run two copiers on the same account?
Not on a live account. If both copiers watch the same room and both are connected to the same broker login, every signal is placed twice. That doubles your size on exactly the trades you meant to move carefully.
The way around it is the demo account. Open a demo with the same broker type as your live one and connect that to CopySignals. Your old copier stays on the live account. The new one trades the demo from the same rooms, so you can compare them signal by signal without risking a second position. The demo guide covers the setup, including why the demo should match your live account type.
Because the terminals run on CopySignals' servers, one per connected account, there is nothing to install next to your old setup. The old copier and the new one do not compete for the same PC.
What should you compare during the demo week?
Give it enough days to see a normal mix of posts, including at least one that is not a trade. Then compare three things.
- Which signals each copier placed. A post that one placed and the other skipped is the first thing to chase.
- Where each trade stood after the follow-up messages. Did the stop move, did the partial close happen, did the final close match the room.
- The reason for each skip. In CopySignals a post that does not read as a trade is skipped and the reason sits on the event log, which keeps the last hundred decisions per copier. How to read the event log shows what the reasons mean.
Fill the gaps one at a time. A skipped signal usually means a symbol name, a word filter that is too wide, or a spread limit that is too tight. Change one setting, wait for the next signal, and read the log again.
When do you move the live account?
When two or three days in a row match, and you can explain every difference. Pick a quiet time, not the minutes before the room's busiest session. The order matters:
- Wait until the old copier has no open trades on the account, or decide which ones you will manage by hand.
- Turn the old copier off, so the room has no listener on that login.
- Connect the live account to CopySignals with the settings you proved on the demo.
- Keep the maximum lot and the cap on open positions conservative for the first days. You can loosen both later.
A trade that is already open under the old copier stays open on your account whatever you do to the copier. Close it, or follow the room's messages by hand until it ends. Do not expect a new copier to take over a position it did not place.
If the account is a prop firm one, read your firm's rules on copiers and on running the same signals from several accounts before you move it. The rules are the firm's, not ours.
What does it cost to try the move?
Plans start at $14 a month for Starter, with Basic at $29 and Pro at $149, and Business by email for more accounts. All of them include the whole product and differ only in how many trading accounts and Telegram accounts they cover. You pay by card or crypto with a merchant of record handling the payment, monthly, and you can cancel any time. A 30 day money back guarantee covers the demo week and the first live weeks. Details are on the pricing page.
What does CopySignals not do?
It supports MT4, MT5 and eTrader. If your account is on any other platform, it is not the right tool. It is not a broker or a signal seller and it gives no advice: it can only place, modify and close orders on accounts you connected, from rooms you chose. Trading carries risk, and a new copier does not change that.
If your rooms, your platform and your settings fit, the plan is short: note the old setup, rebuild it, prove it on demo, then move. Start with the Telegram to MT5 page, and use the checklist for choosing a copier if you are still deciding where to go.
