Entry zone signal copier: how a zone becomes an order
A signal that gives a price range leaves the copier two decisions: where to enter and with what order type. Here is what to ask of any copier, and how to test it.
An entry zone signal gives a price range instead of one price, for example "Buy EURUSD 1.0850 to 1.0870, SL 1.0820". A copier that handles it has to decide where inside the range to buy and what kind of order to use, and the answer changes your fill, your risk and sometimes whether you get filled at all. CopySignals is a cloud Telegram signal copier for MT4, MT5 and eTrader: it reads the rooms you already follow through your own Telegram account and places the trades on your own broker account. It reads an entry zone as part of the signal, and this article is about what to ask of any entry zone signal copier before you rely on one.
What is an entry zone in a Telegram signal?
It is a range of prices at which the room is happy for you to enter. Rooms write it in many ways: "1.0850-1.0870", "entry 1.0850 / 1.0870", "buy zone 2331 to 2335", sometimes with the word "now" next to it. The room posts the range because it cannot promise a fill at one tick, and because the people reading the post are at different distances from the market when it arrives.
A plain signal has one entry. A zone has two numbers, and the stop loss and targets were chosen with the whole range in mind. That is why a zone is harder to copy than it looks: the stop is the same whether you enter at the top or the bottom, so the distance you risk is not.
What choices does a copier have with a zone?
Three that matter. It can buy at the market straight away if the price is already inside the range. It can place a pending order at one edge of the range and wait. Or it can do something between the two, such as a market order when price is inside the zone and a pending order when it is outside. A fourth, splitting the position over several prices in the range, is another option, though none of the rival pages we read describe it.
Each choice trades one risk for another. A market order fills for certain and may fill at the worst end of the zone. A pending order at the better end gets a better price and may never fill, while the trade the room is celebrating runs without you. Neither is the right answer. The right one depends on the room: if it posts a tight zone and runs trades quickly, the difference is a pip or two and a market order is simple. If the zone is wide relative to the stop, the position of your fill inside it decides how much you lose when the stop is hit.
Market and pending orders: what do the terms mean?
MetaQuotes defines them on its MetaTrader 5 help pages. A market order is an instruction to buy or sell a financial instrument, and its execution results in a deal. A pending order is an instruction to buy or sell in future under pre-defined conditions.
The pending types are the ones a zone needs. A Buy Limit is a request to buy at the Ask price equal to or less than the one in the order, placed while the current price is higher. A Buy Stop is the opposite: a buy at an Ask price equal to or greater than the one specified, placed while the current price is lower. The sell side mirrors both. So when a room says "buy 1.0850 to 1.0870" and the market sits at 1.0900, a buy limit at an edge of the zone waits for price to come down to it. If the market sits at 1.0840, a buy limit would be on the wrong side of the market, and the copier has to do something else.
What do other copiers say about pending orders?
Less than you would hope, and that is worth knowing before you compare. We read the home pages of several Telegram copiers for this article. Nexus Copier lists Auto Market/Limit/Stop Orders among its features, and the page does not describe how it treats a range. TelegramFXCopier lists an expiration duration for pending orders, a time limit after which an unfilled pending order is cancelled. The trade2sync page for its Telegram copier mentions money management with fixed lot or risk % per trade, and says nothing on ranges that we could find. Where a page says nothing, the product may still do it, so ask the vendor or test it.
The expiry idea is a good one to look for in any product. A pending order left behind when the room moves on is a trade nobody wanted, sitting there until price wanders back to it a day later.
What does CopySignals read, and what does it place?
CopySignals parses the instrument, the side, the entry or entry zone, the stop loss and every take profit out of free text. Orders go out as market or pending, on every trading account attached to the copier, under the broker's own symbol name. A post that does not read as a trade is skipped, and the reason is written to the event log.
That is what we state, and we will not claim more. If your room posts zones, the way to find out how a particular post turns into an order is to run it. Use a demo account, let a few of the room's zone signals through, and compare each order the copier placed with the post it came from. The event log shows what was read and what was skipped.
How does a zone change the risk you set?
With percent of the account sizing, the lot is worked out from the distance between your entry and the signal's stop. An entry at the near edge of the zone has a shorter stop distance than one at the far edge, so the real loss at the stop differs a little from the percentage you chose. The working is in how a risk percent lot size is calculated. Treat the percentage as a target for the size and not as a promise about the loss. Slippage and spread move the real entry the same way.
A fixed lot avoids the question. The loss at the stop is simply the stop distance times the lot, and you can read the worst case off the signal. If you use fixed lots, put a maximum lot on the account regardless.
What happens to targets and break even on a zone trade?
They work from the position that was opened, whatever the entry was. If the room sends three targets, the weights divide the position among them as described in multiple take profit signals, and a move to break even after a chosen number of targets follows the fill, as covered in break even and partial close from signal updates. A pending order that has not filled has no position yet, so there is nothing to take profit from. If the room closes the idea before price reaches your pending order, check on the demo account that the order is gone and not left waiting.
What should you test before copying a room with zones?
- Pick five zone signals from the room's history and note the zone, stop and targets of each.
- Connect a demo account with a balance close to your live one and let the next five zone signals through.
- For each, record the order type placed, the price it filled at, and whether it filled at all.
- Compare the stop distance from the actual fill with the one you assumed when you set the risk percent or the lot.
- Look for pending orders left open after the room reported the trade closed or cancelled.
- Check the maximum lot and the cap on open positions. A room that posts a zone and then a second zone for the same pair can stack trades quickly.
Rooms are inconsistent, and the same room can write a zone three ways in one week. A post the copier cannot read is skipped, and you will see it in the log with the reason. A skipped trade is a better outcome than a wrong one.
What does it cost?
Starter is $14 a month, Basic is $29 and Pro is $149, with Business by email above that. Every plan is the whole product. They differ only in how many trading accounts and Telegram accounts they cover. Billing is monthly by card or crypto, you can cancel any time, and there is a 30 day money back guarantee. See the pricing page.
CopySignals supports MT4, MT5 and eTrader only. Trading carries risk, and a copier repeats a room's decisions, the losing ones as well. If your room posts zones, run its last few posts through a demo account first and read how each became an order. Our Telegram trade copier setup guide covers the settings around it.
