Telegram trade copier: the complete setup guide

The eight decisions behind a working copier, in the order they have to be made, on MT4, MT5 or eTrader, plus the settings checklist for day one.

A Telegram trade copier is software that stays logged in to a signal room and to your trading account at the same time, reads each post the room makes, and places or changes the trade on your account under rules you set once. Setting one up properly takes about an hour, and most of that hour is decisions rather than typing. CopySignals is a cloud Telegram signal copier for MT4, MT5 and eTrader: it reads the rooms you already follow through your own Telegram account and places the trades on your own broker account. This guide goes through the setup in the order the decisions have to be made, whichever of the three platforms your account is on. The platform walk-throughs are in the MT5 guide and the MT4 guide.

Before you connect anything, read the room for a week

Every setting on a copier answers a question about how a particular room behaves, so the cheapest hour you will spend is scrolling back through its history with a notepad. Write down six things.

  • Whether signals arrive as text or as screenshots. CopySignals parses free text; a room that posts only pictures is a question to settle with any vendor first.
  • How many take profits a typical signal carries, and whether the room later says "close half" or lets the targets do the work.
  • Whether the entry is one price, a zone such as 2410 to 2414, or a pending order written as "buy limit".
  • How the room reports changes: a new message saying "SL to entry", or an edit of the original post.
  • Which instruments it trades, and whether you want all of them.
  • What else gets posted: recaps, result screenshots, chat.

Each of those maps onto one setting below.

Step 1: connect the Telegram account that already sees the room

A copier can only read a room it is inside, and there are two ways in. A bot is an account the vendor creates, and Telegram's Bots FAQ says bots receive all messages from channels where they are a member. Membership is the problem: the owner of a paid room has to add the bot, and a subscriber cannot. The other way is the Telegram API that Telegram opens so developers can build their own customized Telegram clients. A copier built on it signs in as you and sees the rooms you see.

CopySignals takes the second route. You connect your own Telegram account and every channel and group it belongs to is listed. Nothing is ever sent from that account, and no message is kept beyond a short preview on the copier's event log. If you follow two rooms, make two copiers, because each room phrases things its own way.

Step 2: connect the trading account

For an MT4 or MT5 account you enter the broker's server name as your terminal shows it, the account number and the trading password. It must be the main password. MetaQuotes documents the other one: investor authorization allows you to see the account status, analyze prices, and work with your own Expert Advisors, but not trade. A copier logged in with it connects, shows a balance and places nothing. Once the account is in, CopySignals starts a MetaTrader terminal for it on our own servers, one per connected account, and that terminal places the orders. Your broker sees ordinary terminal trades and nothing runs at home.

For an eTrader account there is no terminal. The broker holds the account and CopySignals places orders on it through eTrader's copytrading API. You link it once with the broker, server, account number and password you already have. Every setting below then works the same way, and one copier can send the same signal to accounts on all three platforms at once.

Step 3: set the maximum lot, then the sizing method

Fill in the maximum lot before you have any opinion about the room. It caps every other sizing choice, and it is what saves you when a room posts a stop three times wider than usual.

Then pick how each trade is sized. For a room, two methods apply. Fixed lot puts the same size on every signal, and is what to use on a demo. Percent of the account is measured against the signal's own stop loss, so a 30 pip stop and a 90 pip stop risk the same money; it needs the signal to carry a stop. The other two methods, a multiple of the master's lot and the master's lot scaled by balance, are for copying one of your own accounts and come further down.

Step 4: decide what the targets do

A room posts TP1, TP2 and TP3. A position on your broker has one take profit. You tell CopySignals how to resolve that, per account: split the size across the targets with weights you set, such as 50/30/20; take only the first target; run one position to the last; or place no take profit and let the room's messages close the trade. Splitting opens one position per target, each with its own take profit at the broker, so the partial exits happen even if the room never posts again.

Step 5: match the symbol names and limit the instruments

A room says GOLD. Your broker quotes XAUUSD, XAUUSD.r or XAUUSDm. An order for a name the broker does not quote is rejected, and that is a frequent reason a first trade fails. CopySignals matches the instrument plus any prefix or suffix to what the connected account actually quotes and flags anything ambiguous before a trade goes out. The instrument list sits next to it: if the room trades gold, indices and exotic pairs and you only want the gold, list gold and the rest is skipped with the reason on the event log.

Step 6: the follow-up rules

Most of a signal's outcome comes from the messages posted after the entry, so these settings matter more than the entry ones. On CopySignals they are set per account: break even after a chosen number of targets or when the room says to move the stop to entry, a partial close at each target at the weights from step 4, a trailing stop once the trade is in profit, and the exit when the room reports a stop hit, a manual close or the last target.

Your notes tell you which to switch on. A room that always writes "SL to BE after TP1" needs break even after one target. A room that lets targets run is better left without an early stop move, because moving the stop yourself changes the trade the room posted.

Step 7: the guard rails

Five controls stop a copier doing something the room did not mean. A maximum spread blocks a trade while the broker is quoting wide, which on gold around news is most of the point. A delay before placing lets a limit order sit until price comes closer. A cap on open positions keeps a busy room, or three rooms into one account, from stacking ten trades. Word filters skip any post containing words you choose, such as "recap" or "result". Reverse copy exists for people who want the opposite of a room. None is needed on day one; add them as the event log shows you why.

Step 8: run it on a demo, then read the event log

Connect a demo account first, at a fixed lot, and leave it for a day. Every message from the room lands on the event log with what the parser made of it, or the reason it was skipped. That log is how you learn that this room writes "TP" for the first target and "final" for the last, or that its edits arrive as new messages. Then connect the live account, keep the size small, and raise it only when a week of the log holds no surprises. Copying a room precisely does not make it a good room, and trading carries risk whichever software sends the order.

One Telegram trade copier, several accounts

Size and take-profit handling belong to each account, not to the copier. The same copier can feed a small personal account at a fixed lot and a larger funded account at a percent of balance, from one post, and the maximum lot, break even and the trailing stop are per account too. The reverse also works: several rooms into one account, each as its own copier, with the cap on open positions keeping the total in check.

The same product copies one of your own accounts to the others. A connected trading account becomes the master, and its positions are mirrored to every other connected account as a multiple of the master's lot or as the master's lot scaled by the ratio of the two balances, across MT4, MT5 and eTrader and across brokers. A common arrangement is a personal account driven by a Telegram room, mirrored to a prop firm account at a smaller multiple.

The same steps on other copiers

The eight decisions are the same whatever you buy; what changes is where the two logged-in sessions live. Telegram Signals Copier is Windows software whose site states that a VPS or PC with Windows is required, describes connecting the software to your Telegram account, lists MT4, MT5 and cTrader as platforms, and advertises an automatic stop to entry after TP1 and a trailing stop. TelegramFXCopier says it runs entirely in the cloud, with no VPS required, and is built using the Telegram API rather than the bot API; its page lists MT4 and MT5 and says a stop loss update from the provider is detected and applied to the open order. TTMT says it connects through the official Telegram API on your own account and reads only the channels you add to your watchlist, runs in the cloud, and is compatible with MT4 and MT5.

All three are honest answers, and if your account is on cTrader the first is an option where CopySignals is not. Our note on copiers without a VPS explains what each design leaves running at home, and the 2026 comparison puts the products side by side.

What it costs

CopySignals plans start at $14 a month for one trading account, then $29 for three and $149 for thirty, with Business by email for more; the details are on the pricing page. Every plan is the whole product, follow-up rules and account to account copying included, and the plans differ only in how many trading accounts and Telegram accounts they cover. Billing is monthly by card or crypto, cancel any time, with a 30 day money back guarantee.

CopySignals is software. It is not a broker, sells no signals, gives no advice and holds no funds. It supports MT4, MT5 and eTrader only; an account on cTrader or any other platform cannot be connected.

If you already follow a room and already hold an MT4, MT5 or eTrader login, spend the week reading the room, then connect both on the Telegram to MT5 copier page or its MT4 and eTrader equivalents, set the maximum lot, and let the event log run on a demo before the live account sees a trade.

Frequently asked questions

Software that stays logged in to a Telegram signal room and to your trading account, reads each post and places or changes the trade under rules you set. CopySignals is one, for MT4, MT5 and eTrader, and it reads the rooms through your own Telegram account so the channel owner does not have to install anything.
About an hour on CopySignals, most of it deciding size, targets and follow-up rules rather than typing. Then a day on a demo account reading the event log before the live account sees a trade.
The main trading password. MetaQuotes documents the investor password as view only, so a copier logged in with it shows a balance and places nothing.
Yes. On CopySignals size and take-profit handling are set per account, so one post can drive a small personal account at a fixed lot and a funded account at a percent of balance. Accounts on MT4, MT5 and eTrader can sit on the same copier.
Not with CopySignals, because the MetaTrader terminal for each connected account runs on our servers and eTrader accounts are reached through eTrader's copytrading API. Copiers delivered as Windows software do need a machine that stays on.
