Opposite signals on the same pair from two Telegram rooms

A buy from one room and a sell from another on the same pair both get placed. Four settings decide what your account does about it.

When two Telegram rooms post opposite signals on the same pair, a copier that follows both will open both: a buy from one room and a sell from the other, each with its own stop and targets. Nothing in a copier decides which room is right, so you decide beforehand with an instrument list, a position cap, separate accounts or a delay.

CopySignals is a cloud Telegram signal copier for MT4, MT5 and eTrader: it reads the rooms you already follow through your own Telegram account and places the trades on your own broker account. This article covers what an opposite signal does to your account, the four controls that change the outcome, and a way to find out how often your two rooms disagree before real money is involved.

What happens when two rooms give opposite signals on the same pair?

Each room is read on its own, so each signal is placed on its own. Room A posts "BUY EURUSD" and room B posts "SELL EURUSD" ten minutes later. You now hold a long and a short on the same pair, and every pip the market moves makes one of them better and the other worse.

That is not a copier fault. It is what you asked for when you connected two rooms. The cost is real, though: two spreads paid, two sets of stops that can both be hit, and a net exposure close to zero that you did not choose. Whether both positions sit side by side or interfere with each other depends on the account type, which is covered in hedging vs netting for copied trades. Check that before you connect two rooms to one MT5 account.

How often do two rooms actually disagree?

We cannot tell you, and nobody can in general, because it depends on the two rooms. Rooms that trade the same instrument on different timeframes disagree more often than they look, since a scalper selling a dip and a swing trader buying the same dip are both behaving as designed. Rooms that trade different instruments never meet.

The way to know is to read, not to guess. Put both copiers on a demo account for two weeks and open the event log. Count the pairs where a buy and a sell landed within the same day. That count is the number you need. Our guide to copying signals to a demo account first has the setup, and reading the signal copier event log explains each line.

Which controls change the outcome?

Four, and they work at different points. Pick by what you want to happen when the rooms disagree.

ControlWhat it doesUse it when
Instrument listEach copier only trades the instruments you list for itYou want one room per pair, so the rooms cannot meet
Cap on open positionsHolds back a signal once the account is at the ceilingYou accept the first trade in and want to stop the pile-up behind it
Separate accountsEach room trades its own accountYou want both views, without one cancelling the other
Delay before placingWaits a set time before the order goes inYou trust one room more and want its trade to go in first

Can you give each room its own pairs?

Yes, and for most people it is the cleanest answer. The copier for room A lists EURUSD and GBPUSD, the copier for room B lists gold and the indices, and an opposite signal on the same pair cannot happen because only one room is allowed to trade it. The instrument list is set per copier, and you will need the symbol names to match what your broker quotes, which symbol suffix and broker names explains.

The price of this is that you give up one room's calls on the pairs you assigned to the other. If room B posts the best EURUSD trades you have seen, you will not copy them. That is a judgement about the rooms, and we do not make it for you.

Does a position cap stop the second, opposite trade?

Only if the cap is reached. The cap counts open positions, and it does not look at direction. If you set it to one, the first signal takes the slot and the opposite signal is held back with the reason in the event log. If you set it to five, both trades go in with room to spare.

We do not state how the count behaves when two copiers share one account, so test it: set the cap to one, let a buy from room A and a sell from room B arrive, and read the log for the second. The article on the cap on open positions covers the setting, and several Telegram rooms on one account covers the wider case of overlapping rooms.

Is it better to put each room on its own account?

If you want to follow both rooms faithfully, yes. A buy on one account and a sell on another do not net against each other, and you see each room's result without arithmetic. A trader who follows a room for its entries and another for its read of the same market gets both without the two fighting inside one position list.

It costs an extra trading account, and the plans are priced by the number of trading accounts and Telegram accounts they cover. Every plan has the whole product. Starter is $14 a month, Basic $29 and Pro $149, with Business by email for more, and there is a 30 day money back guarantee. The pricing page has the details. Prop firm accounts add their own rules about what you may hold, so read them first. Prop firm rules and trade copiers goes through the common ones.

Can a delay decide which room goes first?

It can change the order, and nothing more. A copier set to place immediately will beat one set to wait thirty seconds, so a short delay on the weaker room lets the stronger room's trade go in first. If you pair that with a cap of one, the delayed room's opposite signal then meets a full account and is held back.

The trade-off is the price. The market moves while the delayed order waits, and the spread at the later moment can differ from the first. For a room that posts a zone and not a single price, a wait may matter less than for one that posts a precise entry. The delay before placing copied trades explains when it pays.

What about reverse copy?

Reverse copy flips every signal from a room: a buy becomes a sell. It is a separate setting from this problem and does not resolve a disagreement between two rooms. If room A says buy, reverse copy places a sell, and room B's sell then lands on top of it. Use reverse copy only when you have a reason to fade a room, and read reverse copy trading before you do.

How do you size two rooms that may disagree?

Size each room as if it were the only one, then ask what the account looks like when both fire. If each risks 1% and they post opposite trades on the same pair, you hold two trades with a total at-risk of 2% and a net direction of nothing. If they post the same direction, you hold 2% on one idea. The sizing modes are the same either way: a fixed lot, or a percent of the account measured against the signal's own stop, always capped by a maximum lot. See fixed lot vs risk percent.

Trading carries risk. Two rooms are not a hedge, and a long and a short held together are two costs, not a protected position.

What CopySignals does not do here

It does not detect that two rooms disagree and pick a winner, and it does not rank rooms or tell you which to follow. It copies what each room posts, under the rules you set for that copier. It also supports MT4, MT5 and eTrader accounts only, so an account on any other platform cannot be a target.

Which setup should you start with?

Start with one room per pair through the instrument list, a position cap, and two weeks on a demo account. If the log shows the rooms rarely meet, you have nothing more to do. If they meet often and you want both views, move one room to its own account. When the demo looks right, connect the live account from Telegram to MT5 or the MT4 and eTrader pages.

Frequently asked questions

CopySignals reads each room separately and places each signal under that copier's rules, so you can hold a buy and a sell on the same pair. Use an instrument list, a cap on open positions, a delay or separate accounts to change that.
No. It does not rank rooms or choose between them. It copies what each room posts under the rules you set for that copier.
Give each CopySignals copier its own instrument list, so only one room is allowed to trade each pair. Check the result on a demo account and read the event log.

Copy the rooms you already follow, on your own account

Connect your Telegram and your MT4, MT5 or eTrader account once. The copier runs in the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Every plan includes the whole product.
