Telegram signal copier for a prop firm account
What FTMO, The5ers and FundedNext say about copying signals onto a funded account, what they do permit between your own accounts, and how to set a copier so it respects a daily loss rule.
A Telegram signal copier can place a room's trades on a prop firm account the same way it does on a personal one, because the firm hands you an ordinary MT4 or MT5 login. Whether the firm lets you is a different question, and on the three firms whose rules we read for this article, copying another person's signals onto a funded account is forbidden, while copying between your own accounts is allowed with conditions. A telegram signal copier prop firm setup therefore starts with the firm's rulebook, not with the software, and this article goes through what the rulebooks say, what the account still needs from a copier, and where CopySignals fits.
CopySignals is a cloud Telegram signal copier for MT4, MT5 and eTrader: it reads the rooms you already follow through your own Telegram account and places the trades on your own broker account. The same product copies from one of your connected accounts to the others, which is the part most prop firm rules permit. Trading carries risk on a funded account as on any other, and a breached rule costs the account.
Do prop firms allow a Telegram signal copier on a funded account?
The firms we checked do not allow trades that come from somebody else's decisions, however they arrive. The5ers lists "trade coordination or copy trading with other traders or accounts" among its prohibited practices, and its EA answer says that an EA used to "copy trades of other person's signals" gets the account cancelled, banned and not refunded. FundedNext's restricted strategies article states that "'Pass Your Challenge', 'Copy Trading Services' or 'Signal Services' are also strictly prohibited", with a permanent ban as the consequence. FTMO's forbidden practices page for its CFD accounts says you must not "engage or cooperate with any third party in order to have such a third party perform simulated trades for you or in coordination with you". Its futures rules are more explicit and name the tools: you must not replicate a third party's decisions through "signal services, master accounts, trade copiers, or any manual or automated arrangement where decisions originate from someone other than you", paid or free. That futures page applies to FTMO Futures accounts; the CFD page uses the broader third-party wording above.
Read plainly, a paid Telegram room feeding a funded account is a third party's decisions on your account, and all three firms treat it as a breach. That is true whichever copier carries the trades, ours included. If your firm is not one of these three, its rules are somewhere on its site under prohibited practices or its FAQ, and they are worth ten minutes before you pay for a challenge.
| Firm | Copying another person's signals | Copying between your own accounts | Platforms named |
|---|---|---|---|
| FTMO | CFD rules forbid a third party performing trades "for you or in coordination with you"; futures rules name signal services and trade copiers | Futures rules: "permitted, provided each account independently and fully complies with all applicable rules"; the CFD page does not address it | MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, cTrader or TradingView |
| The5ers | Prohibited, including a third-party EA where other traders have the same trades open | Allowed across all of your accounts; multiple Bootcamp accounts must run different strategies | Their FAQ pages do not list platforms on the pages we read |
| FundedNext | Strictly prohibited, including between accounts of family members | Allowed between your own Challenge accounts up to a combined capital cap, with a VPS-based copier; external cloud-based copy trading services are not allowed | Not stated on the pages we read |
What the rules do allow: copying your own trades between your own accounts
All three firms permit some form of copying between accounts you own, and this is where a copier earns its place on a funded account. The5ers says you can copy your own trades across all of your accounts. FTMO's futures rules permit it as long as each account passes its own objectives, and add that "copying does not pool, average, or otherwise modify the individual rule requirements of any account". FundedNext permits it between "multiple FundedNext Challenge Accounts owned by the same individual", with one account designated as the master, and that same article says a VPS-based copier is fine while "external cloud-based copy trading services" are not. CopySignals is a cloud service that logs into your account from our servers, so on FundedNext's wording we are the kind of tool their rule excludes, and you should not use us there. Where the rule only asks that the decisions be yours and each account keep to its own limits, a cloud copier is no different from a copier on a VPS as far as the trades go, but the wording is the firm's, so ask them if it is not explicit.
One arrangement needs calling out because it looks compliant and is not. If a Telegram room drives your personal account and your funded account mirrors the personal one, the decisions still originate with the room. The firm's rule is about where the decision comes from, not which of your accounts it passes through on the way.
What does fit the rules is a trader who places their own trades on one account, personal or funded, and wants the same trades on two or three other accounts at different sizes. That is the prop firm signal copier case CopySignals is built for: any connected account can be the master, and its positions are mirrored to every other connected account, across brokers and across MT4, MT5 and eTrader. Our comparison of MT4 and MT5 trade copiers goes through the vendors that do the same job.
Why a funded account needs different copier settings
A prop firm account has a loss rule that a personal account does not, and the copier's settings have to respect it. FTMO's trading objectives page puts the Maximum Daily Loss at 3% of the initial simulated capital on its 1-Step account and 5% on the 2-Step account, with a 10% Maximum Loss on both, measured on equity including open positions and recalculated at 00:00 CE(S)T. Those numbers belong to FTMO; your firm's are on its own page. The point is that a copier which mirrors a master at the same lot on a smaller or stricter account will hit the daily limit on a day the master survives comfortably.
Four settings do most of the work on CopySignals, each set per account, so the funded account can be tighter than the one next to it.
- Maximum lot. A hard cap on any single order, set before anything else. Whatever the master or the sizing rule asks for, the account never exceeds it.
- Sizing. A fixed lot, a percent of the account measured against the trade's own stop, a multiple of the master's lot, or the master's lot scaled by balance. On a funded account the percent-against-stop option is the one that speaks the firm's language, because it defines each trade's loss as a share of the account.
- Cap on open positions. Ten open trades at a percent each is ten percent at risk at once. The cap keeps the sum of open risk inside the daily limit.
- Maximum spread and a delay before placing. Both stop the copier from entering around news at a price the master never saw, which is when a daily loss rule usually gets hit.
Break even after a chosen number of targets, partial closes at each target and a trailing stop are on the same copier. The full settings walk-through is in our Telegram trade copier setup guide.
Which platform does the prop firm give you?
Whether CopySignals can connect at all depends on the login the firm issues. FTMO lets you pick "MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, cTrader or TradingView" when you set up a challenge. CopySignals supports MT4, MT5 and eTrader only. If you choose a MetaTrader account, we start a terminal for it on our servers, logged in with the firm's server name, your login and the trading password, and nothing runs on your computer. If you choose cTrader or TradingView, we cannot connect and you need a different tool.
Because the terminal is ours, the copier keeps running when your laptop is shut. What the alternatives leave running on your desk is in our article on copying without a VPS.
What other copiers say about prop firm accounts
Several Telegram copiers sell to funded traders and it is fair to say what they claim. Copygram's home page says it is "highly optimized for prop firm traders" and that you can "copy trades across multiple funded accounts simultaneously", and it lists several platforms we do not cover. TelegramFXCopier's page describes "global or per-channel risk limits" and sizing by "a defined percentage of your account balance per trade", on MT4 and MT5. Neither page we read discusses whether the firms permit the setup, and no tooling changes the answer: the firm's rule is about whose decisions the trades are.
Setting up CopySignals on a funded account
If your firm's rules allow copying between your own accounts and the decisions are your own, the setup takes a few minutes in the browser.
- Connect the account you trade by hand as the master, and connect the funded account as a destination, each with its server name, login and trading password. CopySignals starts one terminal per account on our servers.
- On the funded account, set the maximum lot first, then choose percent-of-account sizing against the stop, or a multiple of the master's lot if the master already trades with the firm's limits in mind.
- Set the cap on open positions and a maximum spread.
- Match symbol names, including the firm's prefix or suffix, to what its server quotes.
- Run it at a small size for a few days and read the event log, which shows every position the master opened and what the copier did with it.
Every plan is the whole product, including the account-to-account copier and the follow-up handling. Starter is $14 a month for one trading account, Basic $29 for three and Pro $149 for thirty, and Business by email for more; the detail is on the pricing page. There is a 30 day money back guarantee. CopySignals is software: not a broker, not a signal seller, not a money manager, and it holds no funds. It can only place, modify and close orders on the accounts you connect.
Which way to go
If you want a paid Telegram room to trade a funded account for you, the three firms above forbid it and we would not sell you the setup. Trade the room on a personal account at a size you can lose, if you trade it at all. If you place your own trades and hold a funded account next to a personal one, or several challenge accounts at one firm whose rules permit copying between them, connect them to CopySignals with the hand-traded account as master, cap the lot and the open positions on the funded side, and watch the log for a week before you raise the size. If your firm's rule excludes cloud copiers by name, as FundedNext's does, use a copier on your own machine instead.
